ESU Archives:Emporia State University Debate Program Trophy Collection
ESU Archives student assistants are busy cleaning, organizing, and housing over
400 trophies, plaques, plates, and other awards earned by ESU’s debate teams between
1931 and 1997. The Emporia State University Debate Program Trophy
Collection represents the history and success of teams under the direction of thirteen
coaches: George R. R. Pflaum, James Lowther, Charles Masten, Howard
Holladay, Jim Trent, John DeBross, Larry Larmer, John Lehman,
Marvin Cox, David Matheny, Candy Clark, Steve DePoe,
and Gene Strickland. The awards were earned at 50 different
tournaments held across the United States.
This collection and other information about campus debate
and the Department of Communication and Theatre is available

Winter Fun at Circleview Coffee Shop
This semester has flown by in the blink of an eye and the only thing that stands in the way of winter break is finals week! But here at the Circleview Coffee Shop we want to make it a little less stressful! So starting Sunday, December 13th and going to Wednesday, December 16th in addition to being open until midnight, there will be special holiday offers and fun for all students, faculty and library patrons!

Writing Center Workshop, APA/MLA Style
As you start writing your final term papers, are you struggling with APA or MLA citation styles?
The Writing Center will host a free drop-in workshop on citation styles on Sunday, December 6, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. The location is the William Allen White Library Electronic Classroom, 2nd floor.
Bring a digital copy of your paper to format during the workshop, or use one of the templates provided by the Writing Center. Learn by doing!

Food For Fines Program, Fall 2009
If you have late fees, start saving up non-perisable items! That's right, it's once again time for the "Food For Fines program!" Each non-perishable item brought in counts as $1 off your fine (up to $30 worth). Even if you don't have fines but would like to donate you can! Bring all items to the circulation desk starting November 30th and going until December 23rd. All items collected will be donated to the local Salvation Army!

William Allen White Library Open House and Halloween!
Friday, October 30th the WAWL will be celebrating the the newly renovated (and possibly haunted) 2nd and 1st floors! Tours will be held at 9:30 a.m, 11:30 a.m, and 2:30 p.m. Those wishing to participate can meet in the WAW Library Lobby.
Dr. Barry Smith will also be present for a reading of his newly published mystery novel, Only Milo. There will be two chances to participate in this event... one at 10:30 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. The reading will be held in WAW Library Room 222 (Seminar Room). Copies of Only Milo will be available for purchase and autographing after the readings!
The Library Circleview Cafe will also be celebrating the open house and Halloween with Spook-tacular Specials! Hot drinks will be 1/2 off all day long and there will be FREE refills for ESU Libraries and Archives Coffee Mugs (if you don't already have a mug, they will be available to purchase at the cafe). Also, in honor of homecoming, those who are wearing their Homecoming Buttons can receive a small hot drink for only .25 cents!
It will be a fun day at the library as we celebrate the open house and the holiday! Free candy will be handed out through the day and several costumed workers will be roaming the floors. So stop by, and check it out!
